Three Sisters Rocks

3 Sisters Rocks

Depth Range: 8-12ft.
Dive Type: Phenomenal Snorkeling
Location: North Bimini.

On Tuesday of your Wild Dolphin Adventure week, our snorkel stop on our way to the Dolphin Grounds is 3 Sisters Rocks. One of the best "pure snorkeling" sites, not only on Bimini, but in all the Bahamas. In fact, "3 Sisters" is one of the reasons that Forbes Traveler named Bimini as one of the world's Top 10 Best Snorkeling Destinations.

At depths that range between 8 and 12 feet, 3 Sisters Rocks is an area that can be enjoyed by Snorkelers of all ages and skill levels. The rocks themselves are covered with Coral, Gorgonians, and beautifully colored Sea Fans. Large schools of Yellowtail Snappers, Grunt Fish, goat fish, squirrel fish, sergeant majors, and damsel fish make you feel as if you are swimming in the world's largest aquarium.

It is also common to see small stingrays and skates as well as the occasional star fish in the sand. If you look carefully you will also see trumpet fish attempting to hide vertically in the underwater vegetation. Exploring more closely into the nooks and crannies of the rocks you can find sea urchins, spiny lobsters, reef crabs, banded coral shrimp and maybe even a small octopus! The variety and sheer number of marine creatures to be found here is just staggering.

For the truly adventurous, there is even an underwater tunnel that stretches from one side of the rocks to the other. Take a deep breath, dive down, and make the 15 foot swim through the passageway. Don't be surprised if you pass a parrot fish, grouper, or other cavern resident along the way.

The stop at 3 Sisters makes for an awesome snorkeling experience and is a great way to start Wild Dolphin Day 3. Before you know it, the staff will be calling you back to the boat as it is time to travel the rest of the way to the Dolphin Grounds.
