Billy

Prince William Joseph of Wyckoff (nickname: Billy)

Text Box: 2006

Billy (ID #64) is an older juvenile (class 3) male Atlantic spotted dolphin who was easily recognized even before he developed his first spots. He has a large “C” shaped scar on his right side.  By the shape of the scar, researchers know it is from a shark attack, although it was well healed by the time Dolphin Communication Project researchers & Bimini Undersea first saw him in 2002. The scar shape matches the shape of a shark’s mouth. Unfortunately, Billy suffered another serious injury in 2005, this time to his peduncle (the area behind the dorsal fin).  Everyone was very happy to see him well healed in 2006- usually playing with Split Jaw (#22).  Billy is an energetic dolphin! He has a fine time keeping up with and playing with other dolphins--and he isn’t camera shy!
